Six Flags was flooded and completely destroyed by the storm. The park remains undemolished and in ruins to this day. It is too expensive to destroy, so it was fenced in. Many areas of the city received similar treatment, including residential areas.

Residential Area Destroyed
Many residential areas around the city were destroyed. With no homes to return to, many of the former residents decided to live elsewhere. Pictures such as this explain why the city's population was halved in the years following Katrina.

Many chose not to return to New Orleans after the city was cleared of water. The homes were destroyed and it would be too expensive to repair them. Unfortunately, many historic homes and buildings were simply left or bulldozed. This home is one such example.
